08th June 2023

In case it slipped your radar, lost in the diary entries of weddings, BBQs and holidays, Father’s Day weekend falls on Sunday 18th June this year. But, before any last~minute panic sets in, the team at Oliver Bernard tell us how they’d go about celebrating this Father’s Day and luckily the shared ideas still have availability – so you’re actually just on time. Or if you are in fact Dad himself, and are instead looking for ways to spoil yourself (and perhaps bring your family along), you’re in the right place too.

1. Host an Oyster Boys event

If you’re more of a stay-in kind of family, rest-assured you can still get a luxury dining experience in the comfort of your own home, minus delegating an unwilling family to rustle up a roast. Introducing Oyster Boys. Starting out as a market trader at Columbia Road Flower Market in 2012, now, Oyster Boy events has developed into a bespoke catering and private events company, serving up the finest oysters to clients including Chiltern Firehouse, Soho House, and now, Dad too.

2. Head out for a Sunday Roast at the Dorchester Grill

A classic Father’s Day pastime, heading for a Sunday roast is failsafe. But, to make this predictable option feel a little fancier, we’d recommend taking him to The Grill at The Dorchester Hotel. Tom Booton’s menu is described as a personal interpretation of a modern-day British grill and raved about on reviews as “the best food in London.” Plus, it’s not unheard of to get to have a chat with the chefs in charge and you’re guaranteed to experience some of the best service in the game.

3. Treat him to a luxury Trumper’s experience

Known as the grand old men of the London grooming scene, the Geo. F. Trumper barber shops based in Mayfair and St James’s are unrivalled in haircutting, trimming, shaving, and massaging services. Come for their famous wet shave with hot towels and a face massage set in traditional mahogany panelled private cubicles, and leave with (and keeping coming back for) a thing or five from their bespoke male’s grooming range.

4.  Take him wine tasting at Berry Bros. & Rudd

Located in the heart of St James’s since 1698, wine and spirit merchants Berry Bros & Rudd offer everything from tutored wine tastings to dinners with an unrivalled selection of wine from a company that has supplied the Royal Family since the reign of King George III. On Saturday 17th June you can book in for a one day Burgundy school includes a two hour masterclass in their Pickering Cellar where you’ll sample an array of white and red wines, followed by a four-course luncheon with paired wines.

5. Tickets to the Cricket

For a trip out of London and a sporting event combined, copping some tickets for the Ashes at Edgbaston cricket ground is a guaranteed winner of a Father’s Day weekend. Tickets remain available for the whole weekend, and the weather’s looking pretty promising too.
