Uncork something special – Hedonism Wines joins OB Circle
Curated by OB Private, Crafted for You
We’re pleased to welcome Hedonism Wines as the latest addition to OB Circle – a collaboration that brings one of Mayfair’s most established wine destinations into our network of clients and contributors.
Respected globally and well known to those who frequent Davies Street, Hedonism offers a level of expertise and access that’s rare even by London standards. Through this partnership, OB Private clients can now engage with the brand in a more personal and considered way.
Whether you’re building a cellar, refining your taste or seeking professional valuation, OB Private clients can now enjoy a one-to-one in-store consultation with a Hedonism specialist. Each client is introduced to a dedicated account manager and offered priority access to Hedonism’s programme of private tastings, new releases and invitation-only events.
To celebrate the partnership, we sat down with the team – over a glass, of course – and delved into what it takes to build a cellar with character, balance and longevity.

1. For someone looking to start their first wine cellar, where’s the best place to begin?
Begin by following your passion. Whether it’s a love for Burgundy, a curiosity for grower Champagne, or the idea of owning a few investment-grade icons, your cellar should start with what excites you. From there, expert guidance can help structure your collection to balance enjoyment, longevity, and value.
2. Are there any regions, styles or producers that you think are underappreciated right now?
Absolutely. Lovers of authenticity should explore the Jura, Etna in Sicily, or Swartland in South Africa, regions full of character. Even within established areas, lesser-known producers like Domaine Comte Armand (Burgundy) or Paolo Bea (Umbria) offer immense charm and ageing potential.
3. How do you strike the right balance between personal taste, investment value and versatility?
The most rewarding cellars blend head and heart. Start with wines you love, passion should always lead, then layer in bottles with strong ageing potential or market value. Versatility comes from including wines that suit different moods, menus and occasions. With thoughtful planning, you can have it all.
4. What’s one common mistake people make when starting to build a collection?
Being led too much by hype rather than their own taste. It’s easy to chase big names or trends, but a cellar is deeply personal. Follow your passion first, and let an experienced advisor help you avoid expensive pitfalls around provenance, storage, and suitability.
5. What role does lifestyle – entertaining, travel, seasonality – play in shaping a well-curated cellar?
A great cellar should move with your lifestyle. Think chilled whites and rosé for garden lunches, aged Bordeaux for winter dinners, and versatile bottles ready for gifting or impromptu entertaining. Travel often deepens our passion for wine, it’s worth collecting bottles that bring those memories home.
6. If you had to choose just five bottles to anchor a new collection, what would they be?
Château Montrose 2010 – a powerful, age-worthy Bordeaux that offers classic structure and depth. La Tâche, Domaine de la Romanée-Conti – the pinnacle of Burgundian expression; pure passion and prestige in one bottle. Puligny-Montrachet ‘Clavoillon’, Domaine Leflaive – a benchmark white Burgundy that brings elegance, complexity and longevity. Sassicaia 2016 – an iconic Super Tuscan with a perfect balance of refinement and staying power. Pingus or Harlan Estate – depending on your leaning, choose between the soulful intensity of Ribera del Duero or the bold, polished richness of Napa Valley at its best.
This is the first in a series of contributions from the Hedonism team to OB Circle – with more insights, discoveries and advice to follow.
